I've used Conair Self-Grip Rollers so long that my pink ones have gone bald! Where once the fine brush texture on the airy, flow-through roller used to have grip, it now has slip instead. Phewp! There goes another bald roller in the trash.Whether you call this type of roller a "velcro" roller or a self-grip roller, this "old-style" hair aid is getting harder to find. I started getting nervous when I noticed only two, 31-piece packs of Conair Self-Grip Rollers at my local [...] for about $17 each. Considering that I'd never use the six gigantissimo purple ones or the six simply gigantic green ones, I balked at the price and started an on-line search.Whatever the description or brand, all of these babies seem to be made in China. I found numerous Asian sites where I could get separate size packs for very little until the shipping was added. Balderdash!And balder got my home supply. I now had to add clips to make sure some of the rollers stayed in place. Conair, by the way, advises this for a secure hold. I'm guessing it might be important if you have long and/or thick hair. I have not ordinarily ever had to use clips.Anyway, I finally found the 31-piece zippered pack with the multiples of five different sizes of Self-Grip Rollers online at Ozbo.com for [$]. Since my panic-mode had been established, I ordered what I consider a lifetime supply -- two packs.I have used my Conair Self-Grip Rollers for "volume and lift" (as the package says) as well as for a good, bouncy curl. Through the years I have sometimes moussed or used setting lotion on my hair for a really firm hold. Recently I've been doing a very damp set followed by a sweeping spray of Garnier Volumizing Anti-Humidity Hairspray. When the curls are bone dry, I'm pretty well assured that only my bangs may have to be reset at bedtime.
