Gallium oxide physical properties
White triangular crystalline particles. Insoluble in water. Slightly soluble in hot acid or alkali solution. The melting point is 1900°C (converted to β-type at 600°C).
Easily soluble in alkali metal hydroxides and dilute inorganic acids.
There are two variants of α and β. Type α is a white rhombic hexahedron.

Gallium oxide chemical properties
Ga2O3 can react with fluorine gas to produce GaF3. Ga2O3 is dissolved in 50% HF to obtain the product GaF3·3H2O. Ga2O3 can be dissolved in slightly hot dilute nitric acid, dilute hydrochloric acid and dilute sulfuric acid. The burned Ga2O3 is not soluble in these acids or even concentrated nitric acid, nor is it soluble in strong alkali aqueous solutions. It can only be dissolved by melting together NaOH, KOH or KHSO4 and K2S2O7. With twice the excess of NH4Cl at 250 ℃ together with melting to produce gallium chloride. During red heat, Ga2O3 reacts with quartz to form a glass body, but no new compounds are formed when cooled. It can also react with glazed porcelain crucibles when red hot.
Under heating conditions, Ga2O3 can react with many metal oxides. The crystal structure of gallate M(I)GaO2 obtained by alkali metal oxide reaction (above 400℃) has been determined. Like Al2O3 and Ln2O3, it can be formed by reaction with MgO, ZnO, CoO, NiO and CuO. Spinel type M(II)Ga2O4. The product M(III)GaO3 reacted with trivalent metal oxide usually has a perovskite or garnet structure (such as lanthanide gallate LnGaO3). And there are more complex ternary oxides. People have studied mixed oxides of gallium used in laser, phosphorescence and luminescent materials. It is believed that the luminescence properties of gallate are attributed to the vacancy of oxygen. Because FeGaO3 has interesting electromagnetic properties (ie, piezoelectricity and ferromagnetism), its synthesis, stability and crystal structure have been extensively studied.
Ga2-xFexO3(x≈1) belongs to an orthorhombic crystal. The unit cell parameters are: a=8.75A, b=9.40A, c=5.07A, the coordination number is 8, the melting temperature is 1750℃, and the density is 5.53g/ cm3. The magnetic properties and crystal structure of NiO·Fe2-xGaxO3 have also been studied.
